Moselle, Missouri is barely a dot on any map today, but at one time it was a bustling mining town whose size and importance rivaled other towns in Franklin Co. Jim McCarty will use his parent’s photo collection from when they ran the Moselle Store, as he shares memories of growing up in Moselle during the 1960s and 1970s. He’ll give glimpses into Moselle’s rip-roaring past when it was a boom town and share what led to it being a ghost town today.
Jim McCarty is editor emeritus of Rural Missouri magazine and special projects manager for the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives. He earned a degree in photojournalism, is the author of numerous books, and is active with various other projects, both nationally and internationally. He has a keen interest in local history including the history of electric cooperatives and of his hometown, Moselle, Missouri.
